🕌 I’tikaf Ke Baare Mein Ahadees Ki Roshni Mein

Rasool ﷺ Ka Aakhri 10 Din I’tikaf Karna

Hazrat Aisha (RA) farmati hain: “Nabi ﷺ Ramzan ke aakhri das din I’tikaf kiya karte the, yahan tak ke Allah ne aapko wafat de di. Phir aap ke baad aapki azwaj ne bhi I’tikaf kiya.”

— (Sahih al-Bukhari: 2026, Sahih Muslim: 1172)
Yeh hadith sabit karti hai ke I’tikaf Sunnat-e-Muakkadah hai.

Laylatul Qadr Ki Talaash

Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (RA) se riwayat hai ke Prophet Muhammad ﷺ ne farmaya: “Main ne pehle das din I’tikaf kiya, phir darmiyani das din kiya, phir mujhe bataya gaya ke Laylatul Qadr aakhri das din mein hai, is liye jo mere sath I’tikaf karna chahe woh kare.”

— (Sahih Muslim: 1167)
Is se maloom hota hai ke I’tikaf ka ek maqsad Laylatul Qadr ki talaash hai.

I’tikaf Ki Jagah

Hazrat Aisha (RA) farmati hain: “Nabi ﷺ apna sar masjid se ghar ki taraf nikaalte aur main use dho deti, jab ke aap I’tikaf mein hote.”

— (Sahih al-Bukhari: 2028)
Is se pata chalta hai ke: I’tikaf masjid mein hota hai, Zaroorat ke mamlaat mein ghar walon se baat ho sakti hai.

I’tikaf Sirf Masjid Mein

Qur’an mein Allah Ta’ala farmata hai: “Aur jab tum masajid mein I’tikaf kar rahe ho to apni biwiyon se mubasharat na karo.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:187)

Is se sabit hota hai ke: I’tikaf masjid mein hi hota hai, Duniya se alag ho kar ibadat karna iska maqsad hai.

I’tikaf Ki Fazilat

Ek riwayat mein aata hai: “Jo shakhs Ramzan mein 10 din ka I’tikaf kare, usko do Hajj aur do Umrah ka sawab milta hai.” (Bayhaqi)

⚠️ Note: Is riwayat ki sanad kamzor hai, lekin I’tikaf ki asal fazilat sahih ahadees se sabit hai.

🌿 I’tikaf Ke Ahkam Ka Khulasa

• Ramzan ke aakhri 10 din sunnat I’tikaf hai
• Masjid mein rehna zaroori hai
• Zaroori hajat ke liye bahar ja sakte hain
• Duniya ke bekaar kaamon se parhez karein
• Zyada se zyada Qur’an, dua aur zikr karein

🕌 I'tikaf in the Light of Ahadeeth

The Prophet ﷺ performing I'tikaf in the last ten days

Aisha (RA) reported: “The Prophet ﷺ used to perform I'tikaf during the last ten days of Ramadan until Allah took his soul. Then his wives continued this practice after him.”

— (Sahih al-Bukhari: 2026, Sahih Muslim: 1172)
This hadith establishes I'tikaf as a confirmed Sunnah (Sunnah Mu'akkadah).

Seeking Laylatul Qadr

Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (RA) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: “I performed I'tikaf for the first ten days, then the middle ten days, then I was told that Laylatul Qadr is in the last ten days. So whoever wishes to perform I'tikaf with me, let him do so.”

— (Sahih Muslim: 1167)
This shows that one purpose of I'tikaf is to seek Laylatul Qadr.

The place of I'tikaf

Aisha (RA) said: “The Prophet ﷺ would bring his head out of the mosque to me while he was in I'tikaf, and I would wash it.”

— (Sahih al-Bukhari: 2028)
This indicates: I'tikaf is observed in the mosque, and one may speak with family members for necessary matters.

I'tikaf is only in the mosque

Allah says in the Qur'an: “And do not have relations with your wives while you are in I'tikaf in the mosques.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:187)

This proves that I'tikaf must be in a mosque, and its purpose is to seclude oneself for worship.

Virtue of I'tikaf

A narration states: “Whoever performs I'tikaf for ten days in Ramadan receives the reward of two Hajj and two Umrah.” (Bayhaqi)
